The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
We will win more Premier League games

The Europa League is an ill-conceived abortion of a competition where you need to play about 20 games before you have a game worth playing.

We can go all out to win the FA Cup and especially the League Cup which are more realistic targets

We now know that no player (ie Batshuyai , Bacca etc) joins a club to play Europa League

We wont be told that players are being rested from League matches because they were in the Ukraine last Thursday

Its a wake up call for the owners that if you try and do your buying on the cheap you wont progress

We will play more on Saturdays ... I HATE Sunday games

Qualifying for the CL is the biggest financial prize...

35million if get to the group stage

Winning Our last 2 games last season could have set us up for a hefty financial windfall...

Beats winning any of the cups...or Europa League...

So near...so far...

Cue BUBBLES..

Don't be silly face, we are way too big for the Europa, we are going to finish top 4 and get in the Champions league next season............

Yes, him too, Tex.

I'm sure he wanted to reach the group stages, but we approached both ties with a very laid back attitude and it cost us.

Let's hope getting knocked out of Europe doesn't win us too many extra games in the PL as we might qualify again.

Fuck that.

To the fans it meant a lot, but clearly the players weren't too excited about it.

The only positive is it might be a wake-up call.

If we are not at our best, we will lose games we should win.

Re: The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
Poor way to exit the Europa...

But it's a Crap competition...about 20 plus games to win it...and not much cash...

Better off focusing on league position and more chances of winning a domestic cup...

Hope Bilic sorts it out...we look unfit...wrong tactics and low on orgsnisation...effort and motivation

Hope it's not Second Season Syndrome...

Re: The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
No positives for me.

I thought the storyline was, we are in Europe, have an amazing stadium and managed to keep Payet, plus we will bring in a 20 goal a season striker so onwards to a great and glorious future.

Well chapter one is blown out of the water, we have failed thus far with the striker and if we continue to fail in the transfer market Payet won't hang about for too long. He wants Euro football and If our performances don't improve massively over the next few months our stadium will surely become more difficult to fill, plus we have not exactly improved our chances of getting this 'marquee signing' in..

Shiny new stadium. Same old West Ham.

Re: The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
It's massively disappointing to be out again this early.

The Group Stages should've been the goal at the very least.

Oh, well. Some things don't change. We always seem to bollocks things up somehow.

Re: The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
No positives for me either. I am still absolutely gutted, rarely been more so, outside of relegation

After the nailbighting end to last season, drawing these cunts again and going out to them again is just fucking shameful.

Surely the clubs whole transfer strategy this summer has been based on being in this ? Despite all the talk, we have only bought one player who strengthens the first 11. The rest are bulking up the squad for the likes of this competition.

Not ready ? Do fuck off. I cannot believe that our best player was a 20 year old boy. As for Collins up front, that just brings back too many bad memories.

After a summer of being told to sod off by cunt players who don't reckon we're big enough, I fail to see how others don't realise how important this was to us progressing as a club.

Re: The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
"...concentrate on being a team and a team that is largely going to stick together a few seasons..." Well, of course.

FACT is. Bilic already said some younger players will be going out on loan now we are out of Europe. "Bigger" more experienced players (Payet, Lanzini, Feghouli, Zaza if applicable) won't stay for too long at any club not in Europe. No chance. And meanwhile, we're selling off/under-developing homegrown spine of the future.

Not knee-jerking. But there will (or SHOULD be) a hard look now at the club's longer-term strategy, beyond just getting more money and "waving it" in media interviews. This could be a POSITIVE. But yesterday's result was a massive negative in that it all needs thinking over. 3 failures to progress in Europe, albeit by different approaches in first 2, would cause serious damage to the business that is WHUFC.

Exactly and the year before through some dubious fair play thing.

Really we need to concentrate on being a team and a team that is largely going to stick together a few seasons. Loads of new players every year even if some are better quality doesn't always mean you can hit the ground running.

Pre-season was a mess if you ask me and coupled with players back late from the Euros we've looked pretty awful so far. We've still got the African Cup of Nations to come that will lose us key players even if injuries clear up.

Re: The POSITIVES of going out of the Europa League
The negatives have already been listed on here by several others.

But to think getting knocked out will enhance our season is absolute bollocks. The only thing that will enhance our season if Bilic and the players turn our iffy form around that we have been showing since preseason began. That will have nothing to do with last night.

I think we'll do better out of Europe. Its a shame but that's what I think. Too many teams have strughled with thursday night footy.
